Daniel Jonathan Stevens 37, is an English actor who first drew international attention for his role as Matthew Crawley in the ITV acclaimed period drama series Downton Abbey.

Daniel Jonathan Stevens was born on the 10th of October 1982, in Wales and southeast England to parents who were both teachers, and experienced childhood friends. Stevens also has a younger sibling who is also lovely. He won a scholarship at Ton bridge School and had a free school in Kent. While he was in school, he got hooked with drama during the wake of auditioning with his instructor, novelist Jonathan Smith. From the age of 15, he spent his summers preparing and performing with the National Youth Theater in London.
Stevens studied English Literature at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, he was an individual from the Footlights with Stefan Golaszewski, Tim Key, and Mark Watson, and was also dynamic in the Marlowe Society.
